Garland Quilt Guild meetsthe first Tuesday of each
month at:
Program features pattern designer Anita Bradshaw, from Waskom,
Texas. Anita has a huge assortment of beautiful appliqué and
stained glass quilting patterns. Come learn about Anita's technique
of making beautiful applique quilts without turning under edges and
hiding stitches. She has also perfected how to make stunning
stained glass quilts without the expense of bias tape. If you like
the look of intricate art quilts, applique and stained glass quilts,
without the hours of intensive labor you will really enjoy this
program. HistoryThe Garland Quilt Guild
was formed in 2005. With Barbara Daniel as our leader, the first
meeting was held at Suzy's Quilt Shop in downtown Garland. The plan
was that the meeting would be held there until the group out grew
the space. There were 78 in attendance at that first meeting (with
ladies sitting on the stairs and peaking through the window trying
to hear what was happening)- needles to say, a new facility had to
be found immediately. Fortunately, First Presbyterian Church in
downtown Garland was willing to accommodate our growing group. The
Garland Quilt Guild started with 108 charter members and the first
year ended with an impressive 136 members. Friendliness,
helpfulness, and sharing are the strong points of this group. P. O.
