President Marsha Meeks issued her challenge for 2013: “Optical Illusion”. Any quilt that plays a trick on the eyes, whether it be straight seams that look curved, the appearance of a third dimension, a secondary pattern that emerges, or any other optical illusion is eligible. There are many quilt patterns that fit this bill, so make one that strikes your fancy! Judging will be at the March 2013 Guild meeting. 2012 President’s Challenge The President’s Challenge for 2012 was “Batik Beauty”. Ten quilts were entered and voted on at the March 2012 meeting. Members’ Choice winners were Marie Blackwell who took the Blue Ribbon and a gift certificate to Blue Ribbon Quilt Shoppe, Val Hubbard who took the Red Ribbon for second place, and Ronnie Huff who garnered the White Ribbon for third place. President Marsha Meeks chose Betsy Abney’s quilt for her President’s Choice. Betsy got a ribbon and gift certificate to Fabric Fanatics. 2011 President’s Challenge
The President's Challenge for March 2011 was a "Basket with
Flowers" block. Members’ Choice winners were Pat Aldrich, who
took the Blue Ribbon for first place, Julia Hirsch, who took the Red
Ribbon for second place, and Patti Ellis, won the White Ribbon for
third place. Patti’s block also won the President’s Choice, an
engraved picture frame with a picture of her block in it. Former
President Valerie Hubbard sewed all the entries into a quilt top
along with stunning sashing, which she showed at the March 2012
meeting. Outstanding! A very special thank you to our local quilt shops for your support of our Guild.
